Sandisk Ultra 2 SSD really low speeds.

I just got a Sandisk Ultra 2 SSD and the speeds are really slow. 224 Read and 223 Write.

The box says it has read and write speeds of 500.

Could it be because my mobo only has Sata 3.0GB/s.

If so are the speeds normal for that Sata interface?

It does sound like you are using it on a SATA II port, and yes, those speeds are normal for SATA II.
What is the model of your laptop or desktop and if you know the model of the motherboard we can tell you what ports you have.

My mobo is an Asus P8H61-M LX3 R2.0.

Yup, that only has SATA II (3GB/s) ports as you mentioned so you are hitting pretty close to max speed already.
Still, compared to an HDD on the same ports, it is still a lot faster, anywhere from 2 to 4 times faster depending on the HDD.

Yeah the speeds are a lot faster than my old hdd and for $60 so I'm not complaining.
