OK, so here's my conundrum...

I'm a video editor, so I don't need to play games. I've heard wonderful things about the following - the i7-2600k and Premire Pro's new Mercury Playback Engine - and want to put them together. However, I've been searching and searching the forums for someone to say something decisive on whether or not you need to be running a separate GPU and there's been nothing definitive.

SO... here are the specs of my theoretical build:

Processor - Intel Core i7-2600K Sandy Bridge 3.4GHz (3.8GHz Turbo Boost) LGA 1155 95W Quad-Core Desktop Processor BX80623I72600K

MoBo - ASRock P67 Extreme4 LGA 1155 Intel P67 SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 ATX Intel Motherboard

Memory - G.SKILL Ripjaws X Series 8GB (2 x 4GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800) Desktop Memory Model F3-12800CL9D-8GBXL

GPU - Recertified: PNY RVCGGTX260XXB GeForce GTX 260 896MB 448-bit GDDR3 PCI Express 2.0 x16 HDCP Ready SLI Support Video Card

SDD - Crucial RealSSD C300 CTFDDAC064MAG-1G1 2.5" 64GB SATA III MLC Internal Solid State Drive (SSD)

HDD - 2 x Samsung 1 TB Spinpoint 7200 RPM 32MB Cache

Power Supply - CORSAIR Enthusiast Series CMPSU-650TX 650W ATX12V / EPS12V SLI Ready CrossFire Ready 80 PLUS Certified Active PFC Compatible

Case - Antec Three Hundred Gaming Case External 3 X 5.25; Internal 6 X 3.5 2*Usb2.0

DVD Tray - Sony Nec Optiarc AD-7241S-0B 24x Dual Layer DVD+/-RW SATA

Approximate Purchase Date: Tonight if possible.

Budget Range: $1000-$1200

System Usage from Most to Least Important: Video editing all the way. Converted RED files.

Parts Not Required: Keyboard, Monitor, Mouse

Preferred Website(s) for Parts: I've been working with newegg.com & pricewatch

Country of Origin: US

What do you all think? Is it worth it to go with the GTX460 over the 260? Will I still be utilizing the awesomeness of the integrated HD Graphics in the i7 or will the GPU work alone?

I'll be working with RED footage, which is why Premier's CUDA compatibility is important, but I still can't find a comprehensive CUDA vs. the i7's HD Graphics benchmarking test...

I need this build ready ASAP!! Please help!!

Yes, you want a CUDA enabled card. But, you want it to have 1 GB of RAM or more from what I've read about the Mercury engine and GPUs. I don't know this for sure, but I've read that any modern day CUDA enabled card with 1 GB of RAM will do just fine. Even though gamers don't like them, I've read the GTS 450 with 1 GB of RAM will do just fine.

On a related note, not sure you want to buy Sandy Bridge right now based on this sad bit of news:
