I'm planning on building a new computer as soon as this week to the near future. I know I want to build a new one, but if some super new amazing part is coming out soon, I could wait. For now though, I've gathered up some parts I think would fit together and I was hoping to get some input. This PC's use is going to be mainly for gaming and light movie watching.

At this point, I'm missing a CD/DVD/BD drive and a power supply. I would like to watch blurays on my PC so I'm looking for a good drive for that. About the PSU, I'm just not sure how much wattage I need or how much voltage on whatever rails I'd need to keep this PC functioning. I don't think I'm missing anything else but if I am, just post and let me know. You can also assume I'm not sure about it and offer suggestions.

Well I see why_me just suggested the motherboard I was going to lol but since I have it copied I'll post it anyway just as another, albeit same opinion to reassure ya lol. Here is a P67 option to consider: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813157265
And here is the same Z68 why_me just listed: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813157271
I would go with the Z68 at this point, hard to beat its pricing.

These are updated versions, pci-3 which will work with ivy bridge CPUs. They also look nicer lol. The rest of your parts looked good from what I saw. Glad you're going with the M4 SSD, definitely don't change that.

Didn't notice the PSU, why_me suggests the antec version I recommend, so here is the...

Antec High Current Gamer Series HCG-750 750W ATX12V v2.3 / EPS12V v2.91 SLI Certified CrossFire Certified 80 PLUS BRONZE Certified Active PFC Power Supply

Here's a board worth taking a look at imo. All the new Asrock GEN3 boards have the new PCI-E 3.0 slots.

That is plenty of power, you can get the 750 for 10 more. The CX line is a cheaper alternative, however I prefer the TX series, they also have a nice 5 year warranty.

Alright thanks a lot for the suggestions guys. I'm guessing the mobo I picked was just kind of dated since it didn't have the pci-e 3.0 slots?

Picking a psu is annoying, at least for me, since there's so many things that seem like you should worry about. I was looking at my gpu and it says minimum watt at 500 and at least a minimum 12V current rating of 30A. Looking at the two psus you guys listed, the Antec doesn't have a 30A listing and the CORSAIR has 5V@30A. Maybe I'm just dumb but do the other @XXA count?

great build. either psu that has been suggested is a good option. you wont have problems with either for your rig. personally i would go with the corsair psu, but im just partial to their products.

and that gen3 z68 mobo is a steal at 130 bucks.

In regards to PSU ratings let me just copy the Corsair TX650, it has: +3.3V@30A, +5V@30A, +12V@53A, -12V@0.8A, +5VSB@3.0A. So the +12V is 53A, which is well over the 30A the GPU suggests. I favor the corsair too, I tend to use antec earthwatts 380/430s in my lower builds and corsair TX in my gaming builds, I personally use a corsair HX650, but that's due to having to RMA my HX520 after 3 1/2yrs of service heh.

Oh, was I reading it backwards? It it that the 12V need to be 30A or higher? I thought it was the 30A need to be 12V or higher. Wow, I'm stupid.

Right the 3.3V, 5V, 12V etc are your voltages, then the @30A is the max amps they support on that voltage, the volts w/ the amps gets you your max watts. Typically with computers the suggested amps are on the 12V rail in this case that PSU supports a max of 52A, your GPU suggests at least 30, it provides up to 52 so you have plenty of power. Hope that helps.

Thanks for all your help guys. I wish I could pick two best answers since Why_Me was the first to suggest the mobo change. But since I went with the Corsair, I gave it to MrYoink. Thanks again both of you and everyone else.

I ordered the parts yesterday and they should arrive tomorrow or sooner. I can't wait to put this thing together and I hope it is awesome.
