I've never built in a 1U chassis before and just wanted to get the go ahead from you guys to make sure everything is compatible. In addition to the basic components, I'm planning on adding 3-4 SSDs (possibly including Intel's 900p u.2 version via m.2) and maybe eventually a pcie network or storage card.

1U 250mm chassis (this can hold a pcie card with the use of an extension, yeah?)

PSU (I don't understand these size specifications at all)

Motherboard Z370M-ITX (not too worried about this one)

Solution
Mostly what I'm familiar with you go with one vendor for all the parts and a list of parts that fit/work are provided. If you go to supermicro's website to their barebones 1U it has the riser card and cpu fan model number.

the riser card will be designed to go into a specific addin slot or it won't line up with the case. make sure your mobo has a pcie in that spot in the right size or bigger.

working with a case that fits full size pcie cards and can go in a chassis will make your life easier. I'd look at a barebones if you just want to pick your cpu, ram, storage for a 1U. look into the dust filtering. server room cases are designed to be in predust filtered rooms. so you have to clean it more if it's not, and the 1U fan's are very...

Solution
1U... ur asking for it.

1. Pay attention to cooler clearance.
2. I don't even know if you can mount 1 PCIe card horizontally, with a soft, extension cable.

The rest of it should be fine, skip those fancy RGB, Las Vegas, Ram sticks. SATA jacks ideally should face OUT, rather than up.
