The following letter is from corporate president Tilli in regards to
this year's IF Comp entry, Zero. Please direct questions are concerns
to postmaster@santoonie.com . The letter is also posted on our
website: http://www.santoonie.com/gpage1.html

Also, Tilli wanted to offer a bit of comedy for those anguishing over
the past several weeks, worrying about scores as he did. He is an
avid fan of Triumph, the dog. Included following several Santoonie
commercials is Triumph doing a weather report in Hawaii:

To: Santoonie Shareholders, Investors, and Fans

From: Tilli, CEO Santoonie

Re: Press Conference – Termination of Peter Lansford, Phd.

It is with great sadness that one of our own will be leaving
Santoonie. I called for the resignation of doctor Peter Lansford
following significant poor reviews for our latest text adventure game,
Zero. Dr. Lansford did not accept my terms and left me no choice but
to terminate his position effective immediately.

Our goal this year was to improve our game creation from previous
efforts. Last year's Delvyn game rated 23rd in the annual IF Comp.
Noted improvements were meticously met in this year's entry including
removal of all hunger timers. The fact that the game was released
under strict ordinances not to include the forementioned, leaves the
direct obstruction solely on the department of beta testing. Dr.
Lansford and his team were fully responsible for making sure all
ordinances were followed. This did not happen, apparent by this
year's score of 30th place. A seven point slide.

This backslide is totally unacceptable by my standards as well as
yours. I understand that many are at fault, and a full investigation
will ensue. I consider Dr. Lansford a friend and wish him the best in
his future endeavors. He has told me in confidence that he plans to
continue his beta testing role in interactive fiction and I believe he
is quite capable of continueing this endeavor. His termination is
simply the result of untimely events.

In the interim, we will be aggresively looking for another beta
tester. We have received an internal nomination for The Miser, but
will continue to search beyond Santoonie Corporation so that you can
be assured that the release of Amissville Part II in 2005 meets all
Santoonie standards.

At first glance, it does seem to be a slide. But if you look at the results
pages, Zero's average rating was higher than Delvyn's, proving that Zero
is better than Delvyn (a statement I don't think anyone would disagree with).

If Delvyn had been entered this year, it would only have come in 34th.
So this is no slide, it's a four-place improvement.

(Hmm, my game would have been in the top half if entered last year.
Shoot!)

Peter will be missed. He would sit us around late in the evenings and
tell us the story about the cheetah.
