Sapphire 7850 overclocking

Hello,

I have heard that 7850 should be a beast of a card to overclock. Well mine seems to crash when i go near the given max settings at CCC (GPU clock 1050Mhz and memory 1450Mhz). Voltage is 1138. I think i can get something like GPU 1000Mhz and memory 1300. At the point of crashing temps are around 50 maybe.
So am i just one of those unlucky fellows who got the weak copy of the product ?
Would increasing voltage help ?

what 7850 do you have? some have better cooling than others.

a bit of it is luck and some of it is design (cooling, power delivery, etc)

I would say your memory clock is too ambitious. But you'll have to experiment with settings and furmark to see what you can get away with.

Regular Sapphire 7850 with Dual-X cooling, should be decent.
Card temperatures seems to be fine.

I'd recommend OCing with Afterburner as opposed to CCC. CCC never really lent itself to a great OCing experience with me and my 6970.

a 1Ghz 7850 is all good and in all fairness another 50Mhz does not really amount to much at all if anything. At 1Ghz the 7850 will consistently outperform a GTX 570 so I would leave good enough alone and good play some games and enjoy the card.

That's my opinion, too. Just bumping up to 1000, pretty much gets you 7870 performance for free, so just be happy with whatever you can get. Some people try to get as high as they can just as a hobby in itself, but diminishing returns certainly kick in fast.
