Hey guy, this is my first post so be kind haha.

So I replaced my Powercolour 6970 due to it not wanting to display DVI or HDMI.

I was told this card was cool and had room for overclocking.
It used to run around 32C now its 40C and 47C with two monitors. Overclocking anything above the stock OC freezes my entire system (I know each card is different but it's disappointing).
Another problem is sometimes I notice flickering textures/objects/shaders while playing games (at this stage I really don't know if its the drivers).

I contacted the place I bought it from and they said I'd be charged with the shipment as well as a service fee If I was wrong.
Anyone have opinions on the card?

Thanks.

Hopefully my specs are in my signature.

I7 2600K @ 4.58 | Gigabyte GA-P67A-UD3p-B3 Mobo | Kingston Hyper-X 8GB kit | Sapphire Dual-X 7970 3GB Oc Edition @ 1000/1450 | Case Com 800watt PSU

They weren't..

OK look now just hang on there... Chill it... What method and program did you use to overclock the card? Did you increase voltage?

It is already factory OCd, so to get more out of it you will almost definitely have to increase the voltage a bit.

Besides, they will just give you the finger if you retrun a card because it will not OC. LOL...

It comes factory overclocked. Its like 8% higher than reference I think.. so not that much.
The software I've experimented with is Trixx and AMD Overdrive.
I can get it to 1050/1450, anything over is no good, even with the voltage upped from 1075 to 1081 etc. I move up in 25mhz increments, when it starts to bug out I try to raise the voltage by 5 until it stabilizes, but that never happens.

I know overclocking is not under warranty but the other problems I've mentioned are a tad weird.

Try MSI afterburner...

I ahd a similar issue on my Dual-x HD7950.

Oh wow haha. I've never tried Trixx. I do best with PrecisionX, I can clock up to 1250 and Afterburner only lets me go up to 1189. I have an EVGA card though, so it makes sense haha.

Well there you go, and I have a Sapphire card. LOL! Go figure. BUt I have always use MSI Afterburner. But hey I guess things change.

Dead space 3 gets black screen flickers, close to artifacts.

Crysis 2 and 3 get the occasional texture flicker.

Just played up til the second level where you get to the open field (Crysis 3) and it started to artifact bad.

Battlefield 3 is fine surprisingly..

Sigh.. I don't know what the hell is happening.. when the card was delivered to my house, they didnt actually tell me it arrived. So they left it out in the sun for a couple of hours. I dont know if that would damage the card.
