So I was almost sure I was going to buy the vapor-x GHz but I stumbled across a thread where some recommended the lightning over the vapor-x. So my question is which one will perform better? The lightning costs 50$ less over here and I read that the lightning is louder is louder which doesnt matter if the lightning is just SLIGHTLY louder than the vapor-x. I don't really mind the 50 dollar diff though it can help me get me get a better mouse/keyboard.

CPU:i5 3570k
PSU:corsair 850w
Case: cooler master 912 combat
Mobo:asrock z77 pro 3
RAM: corsair vengeance 8gb

Also the vapor-x=vapor x GHz edition, right? 😛
I mean there aren't two different vapor-x's

Vapor-x:

Hi - you will always find differing recommendations on brands. I think you
go with whichever of these costs less (the MSI) keeping in mind that
a ghz version will outperform the non ghz versions. But, $50 is a big
difference as the Sapphire you linked is not a ghz model

It isn't? I googled vapor-x and wasn't able to find a non GHz edition and it seems like the one I linked has exactly same specs as this http://www.sapphiretech.com/presentation/product/?cid=1&gid=3&sgid=1157&lid=1&pid=1679&leg=0

I'll do that but still it's really bothering me, is there actually a non GHz vapor x? Flipkart probably failed to give the item the correct name and I zoomed into the image it says GHz edition. I just want to go with the one which provides me eith better performance.

It might be ghz - here in the US the ghz always appears after the hd 7970 in the description.
Your link didn't have that & didn't give a model #.
So, it very well could be ghz (for + $50 it should be).
Just haven't seen it previously where ghz wasn't included in the description.

Yes, in looking at the site, it does appear to be a ghz edition.

Well, this isn't the U.S., unfortunatelyv😛. Anyway, I'll call'em up and ask if it is the GHz model which it should be since there isn't a GHz edition, just out of curiousity I'll do this.

the sapphire card you linked in flipkart is a ghz edition....(1000 MHz GPU Clock Speed)

it is clearly mentioned

go for the msi since it is cheaper and has the core clock of 1070Mhz

do check out some local shops instead of the e-tailers....the prices will generally be a little low locally

Well, alright. And also which one has better overclock capabilities? And does the lightning make significantly more noise than the vapor-x.

Haha, yeah. Ime from Delhi and you have a pm.

Hi - I agree with siddharthmukul007's suggestion. Check out these cards
at nehru place if you can.
You might also find the card you want cheaper(happens sometimes)
there than online.

Take a look at the above, I prefer Sapphire as they usually end up with better chips than MSI because they are one of AMDs biggest partners.

But they are both great cards that won't disappoint.

first thing is that i would get rid of the pro3 motherboard. its not recommended for overclocking by sin hardware (they do a lot of stuff regarding internal components of motherboards)

for the GPU, id suggest the asus matrix 7970 if space is not an issue. but if it was between the lightning and the vapor x, id get the lightning

GHZ edition is determined not only by the gpu clock, but the ram clock also. The sapphire is 1 ghz core and 6000mhz ram(1500x4 gddr5). It is a GHZ ed. card. the msi lightning is 1070 core and 5800 ram. not ghz ed. You are probably better off. the higher core clock should get you better out of the box performance. also, ghz ed. cards have the voltage set needlessly high by default. You would probably get a better overclock by tweaking a non ghz ed. card yourself. Both coolers are great. Should keep things relatively cool and quiet(even when overclocking). Since the msi is cheaper, should have higher out of the box performance, and should overclock better, I'd go with that.
