SAPPHIRE AMD R9 280 Graphic Card installation help.

Hey,

I am new to upgrading my PC and swapping out parts and i just got a new graphics card to install. I took out my old one ( which was a AMD Radeon R7 240 DDR3 2GB) And i have read i need to connect these 6 point pin wires together, however inside my tower, there are 3 different places for me to plug the other end of these 6 point pin wires. Where do I go to plug these wires in. Each time I think I done it, I connect the HDMI between the Tower and the display and nothing shows up, as if the wires weren't even connected. Any idea what i am doing wrong at all? sorry for what could be really bad terminology but I still haven't wrapped my head about the names of everything yet. I'm just trying to solve this problem which is probably really easy. If i have left out any relevant information please let me know and ill add it in.

There should be a cord directly from your PSU ending in a 6-pin connector that you'd connect to the 280 (probably need 2, actually). If you don't have enough, you may have gotten molex-to-PCIe adaptors you can use to connect extra molex connectors to the GPU.

So I am only connecting to the wires from the PSU, not the one that seems to be coming from the on/off button at the top of the tower? My power unit is a Atrix AX-500EXB and it has two. I'll give it a shot and see what happens

there should be some 6-pin connectors coming out of the PSU that say PCIe on the end of them. hopefully that PSU has 2 of them

I don't know what I'm doing wrong but nothing is showing up on my display, its still not registering an input from the HDMI. I believe i got all the wires connected correctly, there is a few wires that aren't being used from the PSU though, are they all meant to be plugged in somewhere, as I had not noticed this until trying to upgrade the graphics card today. There is one called Sata, and then a small one which has no writing on it i see off. Sorry for being so lacklustre in computer knowledge
