sapphire amd radion hd 7870 periodically freezing

I bought my graphics card hoping to have an upgrade over my integrated graphics, it looks pretty and all that but games (WoW and ESO) are freezing pretty consistently like 10 seconds of play 2 seconds of freeze. Graphics drivers are updated. Any suggestions?

What do the temps look like when the games are running? If they are too hot, the card may be struggling. Another common problem with issues like this is an insufficient power supply leading to the GPU not getting enough power. What kind of power supply do you have?

the AMD Catalyst Controll center is saying around 48 degrees C when running. I'm running a 500W PSU.

That power supply should be fine for that card.

Not necessarily, Deemo13. Some PSUs don't deliver enough amperage over the 12 volt rail. What model PSU is it?

That will be fine. But I find 48*C under load to be unbelievably low
