Hey guys,

So I just bought a Sapphire Nitro+ RX 480 last week. First time I installed it, the temp under full load was 85-90C. I tested it with Unigine Heaven and some games like Far Cry 4 and GTA V. The fans spin at 2300 RPM.

I brought the card to the distributor to RMA it. The guy there tested my card in an open test bench with MSI Kombustor. The card run cool, 74-75C and the fans only run at 1300 RPM.

Then I brought the card back and installed it again in my PC, and the temp is still bad, 87-89C.

My setup:
intel i5 6600k 4.6GHz
MSI Z170M Mortar
GeIL Super Luce 3000MHz 8GB, with Intel XMP Profile ON,
Corsair Carbide 88R
Corsair H100i v2 as front intake, I replaced the stock fans with Noctua NF-F12 running at 1000 RPM.

There are also 2 120mm fans at the top, Raijintek Boreas B running at 1000 RPM, and one 120mm at the back stock 88R case fan running at 1000 RPM.

The liquid's temp in the H100i is 36-38C.

I am sure my cable management is decent.

My question is, what is wrong here? Does my GPU run hot because of the hot air coming from the radiator?

Solution
The card will naturally run cooler on an open test bench since there is nothing obstructing the air flow. So you should expect Temps to increase once inside the case since air flow will always be obstructed by some thing. I feel there is something wrong with the card physical because the Temps should be much lower when it ran on the test bench.

Did that, temp still the same.
Is it possible that the problem came from the warm air blown by the radiator?

My previous card, GTX 750Ti, didn't have this problem. I used it in this exact PC in this exact case + radiator. What's wrong then?

Hey bingo Idon't know that much about your temps, but I know that the sapphire has a bios switch. Maybe try both bios' or the silent mode or whatever and see if you get different temps.
