Sapphire R9 270x Dual-X with EVGA GTX970 ?

I bought a 270x but I want a better card now. Can't I just keep the 2 cards inside ? Will it run or will it have compatibility issues ? I just don't want to give away my 270x and lose the 250$ I spent.
