Hi guys !
I've ordered two Sapphire Radeon r9 290 4Gb tri-x GPUs a bit earlier than the rest of the parts for my new build.
I want to ask if it's possible to test them if they work (as I'm buying them from a person - they still have 1.5 years of warranty each and are brand new - the packages are unopened ) on my current pc build :
Motherboard : Gigabyte P35-DS3L
Chipset : Intel P31/P35
CPU : Intel Core 2 Duo E8200 @ 2666 MHz
RAM : 4096 MB DDR2-SDRAM
PSU : I have no idea about the wattage. I've opened the case but there are no stickers or signs on the PSU that say how much watts it is, but I'm guessing it's about 300? in the worst case.
Thanks in advance.

Solution
Okk in that case yes but not with your PSU there is a 90% chance the system will shutdown or restart when the card reaches at load borrow a strong PSU from somewhere and then you can try .

Don't use the r9 290 with this setup your processor will surely bottleneck the card plus your ram is low 8 gb would be good and the quality of the PSU matters the most and R9 290 is a power hungry card it self so a good quality 80+ certified 550 to 600 watt PSU is minim requirement for it.

So if you still have a good high end card you will be stuck at extremely low FPS as it will get severely bottlenecked by the processor.

Yeah, ofc, I just want to know if I can check if the video card works properly, has artifacts etc. I'm talking about a maximum of 10 minutes of work with this build

Thanks mate, I'll try to find a stronger PSU or just order mine a bit earlier - it's 850w so it will do

You are welcome.
Ohh yes a good quality 850 watt will able to handle 2 x r9 290 CF with OC for brand go for EVGA G2 850 watt its a very good brand tier 1 rated in quality 80+ gold with 90% power efficiency and 10 years of warranty.

I'm going for the SeaSonic M12II 850W 80+ Bronze - as my build got quite expensive im not really willing to put in more money ;D

Yeah, but in my country i can't even find a retailer that sells the EVGA G2 - the best thing i could find is the seasonic PSU. I'm not rly willing to order it from the US, because of the warranty issues that will follow if something happens to it - I've already checked.

Ohh thats fine Seasonic is one of the best PSU brands available.
