Sapphire r9 290 going from 100 to 0 usage in every game.

Hello lads,

It's again me with my weird problems . I know my hardware is old (2500k @4,5 ,290 and bad PSU Corsair CX 750 ) ,but due to my extrelemy expensive university I can't get any good parts . But that's another story .

So , I tried about 6-7 different drivers ,every time I use DDU .Lately in every game (six siege , Unreal , Survarium) , I'm having really bad fps ,due to that gpu drops . Also , even streams in twtich above 480 lag. Also ,watching msi afterburner gpu core clock stays at 300.. I turned off every power saving things ,but still i have that problem . Is my gpu dying? Or maybe my psu can't handle 2500 on 4.5 . Well my cpu is on 1.38-4 ,wich is awful ,but i use noctua nh-d 14 ,so temps never go above 70 on full load cpu .

the power saving thing you mention, is on windows or is gpu driver related?

I searched a lot for power saving in amd's software ,but I didnt find anything . Just turned power options in win 8.1 to High Performance.

Also my gpu never goes above 67-70 C in game, so it cant be throttling

it looks like you tried the right steps to make it work properly, other than start changing parts i would advise you to reinstall windows to discard a software issue here form that part

the current drivers are bugged and will lock your gpu down to low ass speeds on memory


you need to use DDU to clean the current ones out and get driver version 1.7.12 or older if I remember right

looks like you have the fan speed locked



are you monitoring cpu to make sure there is no thermal throttling? monitor cpu speeds while you play
