Sapphire Radeon 1gb HD 7850 fans spin up but no display output

Hi,

I just bought a sapphire 1gb HD 7850 from ebay and when I just tried to use it, the fans on the card spin up but I don't get any display output.

My components are:

CPU: i5 6500
RAM: corsair 2400MHz 8gb ddr4
Motherboard: Asus B150M-A
PSU: Corsair 430W semi-modular

I realise that the recommended power for the card is 500W+ but I've read elsewhere that a 430W should work fine for this card.

Is it likely that the card is dead? Or do I have some kind of compatability/power issue.

Any input would be much appreciated.

(Recommendations on what graphics card would be a good alternative based on my system would be much appreciated aswell. I don't have much money and pretty much all I require is that it will play xcom 2 when it comes out)

A 450W PSU is the minimum for a HD 7850 (although the +12V rail is the real determining factor). http://www.realhardtechx.com/index_archivos/Page362.htm
Your 430W Corsair should be enough to run the card at bootup at least. I suspect you got a bad card off of ebay.
Do you have the 6 pin header plugged in?

I do have the 6 pin plugged in, so looks like I'll have to attempt to get my money back through paypal.

Have you ever had a discrete card in that board before, to know for sure the slot is working?

Nope, I got the motherboard a few months ago, have been using integrated graphics since then and now this is the first time I've tried using the pci-e slot.

Is that a common fault?

Naw, not really. Forget I even mentioned it. The card is the likely problem.
