Hi new user here

I have just recently had to buy a new Gfx due to my old one, a 8800GTS 640mb stopped working.

I just got my new gfx today a Sapphire RADEON HD 4870 1Gb, but it's not working.... i plugged in in my mobo and connected it with the 2x 6pin power cables.

When i turn on my computer i get 3 green LEDs on the gfx, but i get absolutly no signal to my monitor, it just stays on standby...

My Rig:

Mobo: Asus P5B, Intel P965
CPU: Intel Core 2 Duo E6600
GFX: Sapphire RADEON HD 4870 1Gb
HDD:Samsung SP T166 500Gb
Samsung SpinPoint F1 Desktop Class HD103UJ
RAM: 2x Corsair TWIN2x2048
PSU: Seasonic SS 500HT Active PFC F3

It worked fine with the 8800GTS until the 8800 died :)

And it's not the monitor as it works fine on my old computer (the one im using atm) and I have no spare Gfx or PSU to test with. The gfx in this computer is a old 6600 and doesn't fit on my othere mobo

I think it's probably the psu or the mobo, but quite frankly i have no idea as I'm not much of a Hardware geek :)

Hope there's someone who can help.

Well it seems to be sitting correctly... I even managed to get a few secs of screen, but it was after the bios and it was trying to load windows, but couldn't find any HDD so i had to reboot :S

Evongugg how exactly do i do that if I can't even get into the bios? is it possibly to do on the mobo?

Hmm can't edit my post.... Oh well

Just to add: after i rebooted i couldn't get any connection to my monitor again :S

Check the motherboard manual. There is a jumper that can be used to reset the BIOS. If you have lost the manual just go to the ASUS website, the documentation will be there but you will need to know exactly which p5b you have.
