If I install my 7750 into the blue PCIE slot (x16) of my Asus M5A97 mobo the system beeps one continuous beep followed by three short beeps (no VGA detected), and then one continuous beep followed by four short beeps (hardware component failure).

However as long as my 7750 is installed into the black PCIE slot (x4 mode...) it's one short beep and my new computer boots with no problem. I would rather have my graphics card in the blue slot for optimal usage but seeing as that's impossible at this current juncture, I am at a loss and turned to Tom's hardware for a possible fix.

I have looked up the problem but it seems this issue is unique.

My current build is as follows.
