Sapphire Radeon HD 7870 GHz Edition OC Dual-X vs. Sapphire R9 270X

I'm going to build a computer, but I'm not sure which card I should pick, the Sapphire Radeon HD 7870 GHz Edition OC Dual-X or the Sapphire R9 270X. They have exactly the same price in my country.

Some say the R9 270X is a rereleased 7870, some say a rereleased 7850, others say it's more powerful than a 9750 (which is way more expensive, so that's not an option for me to buy that one).

Which one is the best?

Ok. I did also find three other models of the R9 270X, the Sapphire R9 270X Toxic: 2GB (clockspeed 6000MHz) and GPU clockspeed of 1150MHz and another Sapphire R9 270X Dual-X: 4GB (clockspeed 5600MHz) and GPU clockspeed of 1020MHZ, both at the same price, but 30 euros more expensive than the 'normal' R9 270X and the 7870. The last one (Sapphire R9 270X Vapor-X) is 20 euros more expensive and has the following specs: 2GB (clockspeed 5800MHz) and GPU clockspeed of 1050MHz. Should I get one of those other three (if so, which one?) or isn't it worth the money and should I get the 'normal' R9 270X?

(The 'normal' R9 270X is 2GB (clockspeed 1020MHz) and GPU clockspeed of 5600MHz)

I guess you should go with the toxic edition as it comes with the highest overclocks, better cooling + very nice backplate mounted on the top..

R9 270x also has mantle, which should be incorporated into new games which are soon to be released. The R9 270x is a newer version of an 7870, but the performance however is equivalent to a 7950.
Also with the types of R9 270x I must say that the XFX black edition has been proven to be just under or equal than the toxic performance wise, doesn't get as hot due to lower clock speeds and costs less.

Does the 7870 series support mantle? I keep hearing opposing things about this.

I know my current 5850 doesn't support it in thief at least.

The 7870 cards's do actually contain mantle but it's not optimized to run on the beta drivers as of yet, only the newer cards. I'm not entirely sure when the next drivers are coming out, but once they are mantle should be able to run on the card
