Both are good cards, I prefer the Asus over Sapphire, went with the Matrix for a 290X

I would say the VaporX is better, but if you can, pick up a Sapphire TRI-X OC R9 290. It has 3 fans so it has better cooling, and it over clocks very well.

The VaporX R9 290 is better in my opinion but that is because I personally love Sapphire's products.

The TRI-X is also Sapphire, but go with what you want. I'd personally recommend the Vapor X over the Asus, I also love Sapphire
