Sapphire Warranty/RMA [Anyone with experience?]

Anyone have first hand exeprience with Sapphire RMA process?

I was researching brands and this is what Sapphire's website says (LINK):

Sapphire VGA products carry a 2 year warranty with all enquires carried out through your initial place of purchase. This can only be carried out by the original purchaser Please contact your Dealer/Reseller for Warranty / RMA service. They will require proof of purchase which includes the original invoice/documentation.

So If I bought the product from newegg/tigerdirect I have to call them first?!?! What the f kind of procedure is this?

Found the RMA form they sent me,

They wanted Quantity, Product Name, P/N, Serial #, SKU#, and a description of the problem. Also, a return address, email and phone #.

I said in my initial email that I was outside newegg's return period so they wouldn't ask me to go through newegg, and they didn't. I used the invoice from newegg (they save all your invoices for you) as proof of purchase date.

I have had experience with Sapphire. My HD 5870 died on me about 5 months after I purchased it. I sent the bad card to Sapphire and since they were no longer making it, they sent me a 6950 as a replacement.

The process is to contact the seller (newegg in my case) if your card is still covered by their return program (30 days for newegg). Since my card was purchased 5 months before it died, I contacted Sapphire directly.

Once you contact their customer service (via email) they will send you an RMA form you need to fill out with important information from your GPU (SKU#, Serial # etc). Email the form back to them, and they will send you an address and an RMA #. Pack up your card, and ship it to the address with the RMA # clearly written on the outside of the box and they will accept the return.

Since your product was past the 30 days you didn't bother involving new egg (seems very logical), but the link I posted says EVERY rma procedure must start where you bought it.... So that information seems wrong given your experience? would you say so?

How did you verify your date of purchase with sapphire? Can you recall all the information that was requested by the RMA staff? (I see you already mentioned the SKU's and serial numbers)

Please tell me how you got the RMA form. Did you contact them via email? If yes, please share their email address so that I can contact them. My gpu's warranty period is just 3 months away from expiration.
