first, both cards are the same price for me
I have 3 1080p monitors and plan to go cf/Sli in the future (in 6-7 months)
looking at the numbers the 290 looks better but in benchmarks they trade 1st place also games are starting to be amd optimized and I hope to be able to play Star Citizen with this upgrade
(in 5760x1080 of course).
They both seem pretty overclockable and I can´t tell wich one is better for 5760x1080 gaming
does anyone have any benchmarks or experience with either of these cards?
or should I wait to see what the gtx 880 will cost because I don´t wan´t to buy new stuff 1 month before something newer and better at a hopefully similarprice is released

both are extremely nice cards. the 780 does have a bit more overclocking headroom than the 290, especially on air. again like you said they both are neck and neck for the most part with the 290 out the box holding a bit of an edge. you cant go wrong with either of them. for multi monitors the 290 does seem to have an edge but if your going to be running dual cards in the future, crossfire is better than it was but sli has and is still a little bit better.

mantle seems to be coming along very well. if you really need the extra bf4 horsepower now then mantle helps. star citizen is ridiculous since its already at such a high fps anyways. dx12 will likely address api performance too in the future.

thanks for the answers
it might be dumb but I also love the style of te sapphire it fits my build nicely
I guess the only question now is when will the 880 come out and what will it cost...
