Hi, I bought cheap discs -Seagate Exos 7E8 4TB (new $85/piece), but they have SAS interface. Is there any (cheap) way to connect them in my standart PC? Without $400 controler...
I've found some cables on eBay, but I'm not sure if they would work
Thanks

Solution
No. You need to use a cheap PCIe SAS controller or host bus adapter, SATA ports will not support SAS due to signalling voltage differences. You could get it to work intermittently, but it would not be reliable with that sort of adapter.

You can go the other direction though -- SATA drives will work fine on SAS adapters if the proper cables are used.

Be aware there are a large variety of connector types with various cards. Consult THIS wiki article at the bottom for information on the various cable connector types.

They are not your standart 5k4 HDD, they are enterpise drives with 5 year warranty.

I'm not sure what those "renewed" dics are, but I can't buy them here. Cheapest drive I can get here is $110 and that's 5k4 with 2 year warranty. So yes, they are cheap. Unfortunately they have this SAS interface.
Anyway I'm returning them to the seller, it's not worth the hassle. Thanks dor reply
