Hey there.
Check if your mobo has more than one set of SATA ports and if you're using a SATA II port. You could also try the drive with a different port and cables, to see if the same thing happens.
Other than that you could download the HDD manufacturer's diagnostic tool and test the drive for errors. I'd also recommend that you reinstall or update your motherboard associated drivers (chipset, SATA controller, etc.).
You could also check the drive with a different tool, to see if it still says it's using SATA I instead of II.
