Question Sata 3G on P8P67 DELUXE not working

Bought a used P8P67 DELUXE and all the Sata 3G ports are not working, but all the 6G are. also a High pitch sound comes out, I´m guessing is a Capacitor but not sure, any body has a similar problem ? It´s using the latest bios.

There was a defect/recall from that era relating to the 3G ports. Nearly forgot about it.

Quickly identify safe to use, unaffected SATA ports on your ASUS motherboard

The ports would degrade and stop functioning over time from a chipset issue or something along those lines if I recall. Otherwise, make sure they are not disabled for some reason in BIOS.

Thanks a bunch for the info, just checked and yes my motherboard has the issue... I got unlucky, i guess the recall is over 😕.

Regarding the noise, it's likely coil whine from an inductor somewhere. It shouldn't affect performance, but it would be heard under certain conditions, CPU load, ect. Yes, probably quite a bit late for a replacement unfortunately. You could always buy a basic SATA port add-in card for your PCI-E slots if you have available.

are you using 3g cables on your 3g port ?
