SATA 3Gb/s & 1.5Gb/s HDs

Hello All!
I have a quick question for you....

Q - At the moment I would like to buy a NVIDIA motherboard that meets, AMD 2X processor, ATA 3.1/1.5, and RAID 5! Many boards do show both 3Gb/s & 1.5Gb/s ports. However if a 2x Motherboard only lists SATA connections that are 3Gb/s, will it be able to handle/run both SATA 3Gb/s & 1.5Gb/s HDs?

Simple answer? Yes. Basically, it will step down from the 3Gb/sec -> 1.5Gb/sec
