Hello,

I just finished building a new PC however I am still looking to upgrade my harddrives.

My motherboard supports Raid 0 and SATA 6.0. After researching the SATA 6.0 transfer rate, I am unsure of the better performance.

Should I go with:

1. Western Digital Caviar Black WD6401AALS 640GB 7200 RPM 32MB Cache SATA 3.0Gb -- x 2 - (Raid 0)

or

2. Western Digital Caviar Black WD1002FAEX 1TB 7200 RPM 64MB Cache SATA 6.0Gb/s (Single Drive)

Thank you!

You will not see any performance difference using sata 3 HDDs (even in raid0 configuration) on a sata 6 port. You would have to go to raid0 of the NEW velco sata 6 HDDs to see a benifit (Expensive, but cheaper than SSDs. Get more storage space, but an SSD is much beter in terms of performance). The two WD blacks in raid0 will give higher performance for sequencial reads/writes, but not much boost for the more important small file random read/writes.
