Hi Guys,

i was wondering if my motherboard would be compatible with the SSD I am thinking of buying.

This is my motherboard (possibly manufactured late 80's :ouch: ) https://www.asus.com/ROG_ROG/CROSSHAIR_II_FORMULA/

and this is the SSD I am considering
https://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=HD-192-SA (other ssd suppliers are available)

I noticed that the last SSD I bought and talked about on here was sata 3, which works... but the one I am looking at is sata 6. The board specs obviously will not specify future tech compatibility and I cannot see backwards compatibility in the SSD specs

Thanks for your help in advance

Neil

I may be getting confused with sata 3 sata 6 sata 2.0 etc etc but as long as that SSD with all the SATA 6Gbps 32 Layer 3D V-NAND jargon works with my pc then thats great!

I have to be careful because I once bought another 460GTX gfx card for running sli... finding out that my motherboard wasn't compatible to my wifes dismay thus resulting in the crosshair board cpu and ram that i need to buy second hand to run them both

Thanks guys

SLI-compatibility is another thing altogether and based on the motherboard and GPU compatibility with SLI. SATA 3.0 drives are compatible with SATA 2.0 ports (which is what you have on your motherboard).

Another item to note is for maximum compatibility with any hardware, it's advisable to keep your BIOS up to date.
