SATA and PCIe compatibility

I am replacing the SSD in a Sony Vaio Pro 13. Originally came with a M.2 PCIe drive, wanted to know if a M.2 SATA drive will work as a replacement.

Since there are different models of Sony Vaio Pro 13 that support either M.2 sata or M.2 pcie. Not sure if there are models that support both.
You can try can and see if yours will accept a M.2 sata but it would be safer to use a M.2 pcie ssd for your model.
