Sata Cable Connected to Optical Drive help

I have a sata cable actually goes into my optical drive, and the end going into the optical drive is the one that is angled 90 degrees. So I was wondering if I could switch the wire the other way to get the angled side into the mobo instead? (Also cant i just unplug the wire completely? because i never have used my optical drive?) thanks.

Sata data cables aren't single direction, they can go either way and yes, it can be disconnected.
