Hey all.
I've messed around with it all day:
I've bought a new SATA hdd for a Sony laptop.
The hard drive wasn't recognized at the beginning, and only when I unplugged everything and plugged them again a few times, everything seemed to work. I installed a new OS.
The problem staretd when I moved the laptop. The drive then did not get recognized and I had to play with the cable, again.
Messing with things around all day - It's not the drive (I plugged it in another laptop.
I also plugged in the older hdd and got the same problem.
I managed to narrow it down to this:
If I put pressure on the cable's right corner, right under the where it connects to the motherboard, then it's recognized and working. I can hear it spinning. If there is no pressure on the cable, it's probably not connected.
Cable / Connector do not look damaged at all.
Any idea or similar experiences would be appreciated, before I spend 60 dollars on a new cable (It's quite expensive here)
