Question sata cables have a cord attached by a screw to the case...

hello i was looking to purchase a new sata cable because the one "right angle" (i think this is the data cable) is all messed up and wont connect to the harddrive correctly. i was looking inside the case and theres two sata data cables and their both connected to each other (but plug into different ports on the board), both of these cords also have 2 extra cables attached to the case and are being held in by a screw.

if someone could point me in the right direction about which cords i should buy and if it is needed that they are screwed in like this (i think its a grounding wire?) i would appreciate it.

Those are ground wires. Not the SATA cable itself. Dont mess with them..

Ok but if I were to try to change the cables to put in new ones, would I need to buy ones with a ground wire?

No, ground is included in power cable connector to PSU and disk side. What you are changing are only SATA data cables. SATA power cables ar included and attached to PSU.
PS, Narrower ones are for data.

The wires are coveredwith shrink tubing. Where do they come from?

I have seen them a few times in oem machines.
They appear to be for cable management.
You can bend them and they will stay in that position .
