sata connectors-need help

so ill be getting a new mobo which has sata 3g and 6g connectors...my old hp pc(bought in 2009)
has older sata cables and drives....my question is can i use the new mobo's sata 6g ports and 6g cables to connect my old hdd and dvd drive?i dont mind if there isnt any speed improvement, i just wanna know if ill have compatibility problems...

they are compatible. just plug them in using a sata cable

you should have no problems. you could use the old chords, the new ones it will work.
