So a buddy of mine is building a computer, and he is getting a Asus Sabertooth z77 motherboard. We told him that the Samsung 840 and the OCZ Vector SSD's are amazing speed wise, but one of his buddies told him that the SATA controllers on the motherboard don't match the SSD sata controllers so he wouldn't be getting full performance.
My question is:
If the motherboard has a different model/maker SATA controller than the SSD SATA controller maker, will that hinder performance in any way?
I'm almost 100% positive that I know the right answer, but he wants other opinions and I need an outside source other then my own advice. And if anyone can provide any research backing their opinion up that would be great.
