SATA Drive not being detected in BIOS or device manager

My main WD 500GB Sata drive with windows 7 (64bit) is working fine. I have an old drive that i wanted to put into the new computer as a secondary drive. However the drive is an IDE drive so i had to buy a converter to make it sata.

Nothing come up in bios or device manager about it.

Any help appreciated

Welcome to Tom's Hardware...

I would say that either the adapter isn't working or the IDE drive is set as a slave drive, so the SATA isn't recognizing it.

Have you thought about just getting an IDE external closure and using the drive that way??

Did you install the driver for the converter?

No cause the converter is hardware based and the conversion is doen before it reaches the motherboard so it just looks like a normal sata drive

Ye ive thought about the adapter not working as ther isnt really any way to test it apart from it either works or it doesnt.

Ill try putting the jumper to master cause i know its been put as a slave the now so that might be the problem.

If all else fails i think i will just go out and buy an external IDE closure lol

I would actual take the jumper out all together, if setting to master doesn't work, as SATA doesn't utilize jumpers.
