Sata dvdrw not detected

my sata dvdrw is not detected in the bios i`m running windows xp pro with an asus m2n-mx se plus board i built for my children. just cant get the darn sata drive to work,,

Have you checked the connectors? Maybe its not getting the power from the PSU, check that connection first. Does the DVD-RW light blinks when you turn on your PC?

yes its getting power as the drive opens and closesit just wont recognise the drive
i have connected the drive via usb using a kit to do that with and it is read by my comp[uter just fine i think its a driver issue but i cant find one for it..
