i5 4460
500gb hard drive i assume its 7200rpm
8gb ddr3 ram
temps are fine 20s/30c
i have no start up programs ive disabled them all yet i get 100 percent disk usage in task manager

would a ssd make this problem go away i mean will it booot up faster and make it where i can start playing music or open programs instantly ....

Solution
As they say, boot partition (the partition of interest) should not be say >80%. Your Ram situation SHOULD (you tell us) be OK.

Next I would run a s.m.a.r.t. monitoring util see if the drive is creep-dying. It should say HEALTH in percentage. If it creeps up over a few days, you maybe looking at a replacement pronto. If it stays steady, you may want to run a LONG SCAN using the vendor's own diagnostic utility. Recommend backing up critical data first.

No I would not run out buying a SSD, unless you are tired of the HD and just wanna junk it.

Solution
Start Menu>Right click at Computer>Device Mananger>Go to Storage and tell us the model/number of the HDD, so we could help you.
And yes, it is normal that your hard drive is 100% when booting, and yes, probably the SSD is the answer.
