Hello Folks!

I have an issue with my SATA HDD. Is a western digital WD3200SD internal HDD. The problem im having is that the drive cant be found inside of windows. When i check in BIOS its there, all the info about is correct (size, sata channel, etc) but if attempt to find it in windows or install and OS on it, its nowhere to be found.

If anyone has any ideas, suggestions or perhaps a software that can repair this issue it would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks in advance for your responses!
Don

Usually the "can't find it in windows" error is because there is no partition on it. If you go into the drive manager you can find it there and format as you need to. But if its seen in the bios but you can't install windows on it, its usually a driver error. What board are you using? What copy of windows? Have you tried giving it the SATA drivers?

Right click "My Computer"
Click "Manage"
Select "Disk Management"
Right click "Disk Management" and select "Rescan Disks"
Find your drive in the list in the bottom pane
Right click it and select "Initialize"
Add a partition

Problem solved?

Found it in disk management on windows 7, said it was corrupt. Coverted it to a basic drive then made it a simple volume, now its working! Thanks for your help gentlemen!

I have the same problem but the drive is not seen by Disk Management even after a rescan. Also, it is not seen by Ubuntu but shows up in bios. The drive has an old image of my boot drive but disappeared from windows after I was having some boot issues. I want to format it and create a new image for backup purposes. Any suggestions?
