SATA II on a siliconImage satalink 3112

I have a pretty old machine built in 2004, all Intel, runs like a champ.

I wanted to add a Seagate Barracuda 7200.11 1.5 TB SATA Drive ST31500341AS which I believe is SATA II. As far as I can tell the SATALINK controler (built into the Intel motherboard) is rated up to SATA 1. (Makes sense cause SATA II didnt exist in 2004.)

Are there drivers or firmware that would allow me to connect the 1.5TB SATA II drive to the motherboard?

or do I need to replace the motherboard or get a sata controler card for this drive or ???

The drive should work fine on that controller, you may need to change the setting on the drive for 150MB/sec mode.
