On the WD SATA Hard Drive, SATA Jumper Settings . In particular I am interested in the Advanced Format Jumper Setting which states:

" To achieve full performance on Windows XP, single partition, set Jumpers 7-8 prior to installation".

Can I assume that is also true when using Windows 7 ?

Thanks for any help.

Western Digital Caviar Green WD20EARS (Advanced Format) SATA.

I was wondering if this jumper setting will allow a different formatting of the drive more suitable to Windows.

Anwser is Yes, see below:

WD says it's for Windows 7 and will still need to be aligned(whatever that means)
This is all new technology and seldom works for me. However I think you should repost in the drives section asking what performance enhancements to expect. Or problems. Hopefully someone will address the issue.
