Hey guys

I have 2 HDDs and one SSD on my P8P67 PRO Rev3.1 motherboard.
I was wondering on which port I should contact my third HDD to.I heard Marvell controllers are generally bad and should be avoided if possible.
So I was wondering if it would benefit me more if I just connect my third HDD to Intel 3GB/s SATA instead?

Here's my current setup:

[P8P67 PRO Rev 3.1 Motherboard]
Intel 6Gbps SATA port 1-> Saumsung SSD 840 Pro 256GB
Intel 6Gbps SATA port 2 -> Samsung HDD SpinPoint F3 1TB
Marvell 6Gbps SATA port 1 -> empty
Marvell 6Gbps SATA port 1 -> empty
Intel 3Gbps SATA port 1 -> DVD R/W Drive
Intel 3Gbps SATA port 2 -> empty
Intel 3Gbps SATA port 3 -> empty
Intel 3Gbps SATA port 4 -> empty

[Seagate HDD Barracuda 1TB]
Lonely, waiting to be inserted.

Solution
Yes you can just plug into an Intel 3Gbps port. Then use disk management to partition and format if not already done.

There is zero difference in the ports for HDDs so yes I would leave the Marvell off to improve boot times.

Thanks for the response.

So can I just plug it into Intel 3Gbps?
If there's absolutely zero difference with the mechanical drives (my Seagate HDD Barracuda) on 3Gbps from 6Gbps might as well just use Intel so Idon't have to turn the controller on from BIOS (2 second faster boot time).
