Hi there!
I have a huge need for help from this awesome community!
I was running a fairly stable desktop on XP for the last few years and there seems to be now BIOS problem preventing it from booting. I am not too bothered with the PC itself, it's seen better days, and as much as i will miss playing on it, i'll survive the loss.
I am, on the other hand, totally distraught with the potential data loss on the several partitions on my WD Caviar Blue 500 GB. Partition 1(OS) and 2(back-up) are ok to be lost (3 and 4 not at all!), and to a certain degree, the HDD can be sacrificed if the data is saved.

So far i have tried what i do with every other HDD I get my hands onto: stick it on an external HDD USB case attachment and connect to a back-up laptop (on Win7)... no luck at plug and play, and no way to initialize the drive: MBR gives me an "Incorrect function" message, GPT gives me "The specified disk is not convertible because the size is less than the minimum size required for GPT disks".

Some of the data I am trying to recover is professionally critical. And of course my back-up (external HD) fell from the desk 2 weeks before the desktop BIOS decided to mess with me.

Anyone help please? WD reps, any idea?

Thanks, Kiorys
