SATA 'n' AHCI

hello!
I need to copy lots of data from disc to disc and using USB cable it's to slow for me, so I want to connect disc directly to MoBo by SATA cable but my bios and discs are on AHCI mode and disc which i trying to connect was used on IDE Mode.
So I've got the question: will this disc just run or format?

You can set what mode the drive will run under in BIOS. Besides, it'll run okay on the "wrong" setting as long as it's not the drive you boot from.

as long as its not the boot drive then it will actually run a little faster in ahci mode.
