Hello,
I’m confused. I am building a PC that will have a Samsung 840 SATA III SSD on which will reside Win 8 O/S and applications. I will have two SATA III HDDs in a RAID 1 configuration for data. My Asus Sabertooth Z77 MOBO has two Intel SATA III ports, 4 Intel SATA II ports, and 2 Asmedia® asm1061 controlled SATA III ports. I assume I should connect the SSD to one of the Intel SATA III ports. Should I connect the HDDs to the Intel SATA II ports or to the Asmedia® asm1061 SATA III ports? If the later, will the RAID be controlled by Intel Storage Manager?

Thanks for the link, Nothing_but_NAS. I'm a bit leery of using the Asmedia SATA III port for the system SSD - perhaps for no good reason. Do you know if there is a downside to doing this?

I think I just found my answer in this post "Z77 Sabertooth Raid Config"
It looks like I have to put my system SSD on the Intel SATA III port and connect my two RAID 1 HDDs to the Intel SATA II ports because the Asmedia controller ports aren't bootable and only the Intel ports support RAID.

Sorry if I wasted anyone's time.
