Sata port multiplier setup

I've been working on a nas server for my family. Current mobo is ASRock Motherboard Mini D1800B-ITX. I have installed a IOCrest SY-PEX40039 PCI- Controller card that supports 2 sata 3 ports as well as port multiplication with FIS. How do I use port multiplication? I can't find any sata cables with multiple ends so I know that isn't it. I seen a port multiplier switch but my card already supports it so I don't believe I need that. Any help on how to expand my number of hdd's or how to set it all up would be mightily appreciated. thanks alot

Sata port multiplication only works if the port has that function built into it. But your card should work. I have been using this docking station for years now.

Can read & write between 2 drives inserted. I have it incerted into the back of my comp into a card with e-sata ports that support port multiplication.

To use Port Multiplier, you need both OS, host and device support PM.
Your PCIe eSATA host supports Port Multiplier, now all you need is PM bridge, old PM bridge from Silicon Image and Marvell is SATAII
Where new Jmicron supports SATAIII. There are two flavors: SATA and eSATA ports
You set up happen to need SATA bridge. and this is what you need to see 5x drives:

Keep in mind, Windows. Mac, Linux, FreeBSD.. support PM, but in order it to work it needs proper drivers
