is there a reason why AMD mobos never have more than 6 SATA ports and there are Intel based mobos with i think up to ten?
I have a DFI s939 board with 8, at the time that was the most ports of any MB. The controllers cost money, so make the MB more expensive. Most controllers will only support 4 ports, but I can't find anything in the SATA specs limiting that, so dunno. Many RAID controllers only have two ports. Again, cost. This is not an intel vs amd issue, it is a MB mfg issue.
