Is there a limit on how long a SATA power cable can be? I have a work station that is specifically for cloning HDD's and SSD's. It sits far off to the side. I want to extend a set of SATA III data cables and a set of SATA power cables. I have found 6 foot SATA III cables with out any issues. I however don't see anything longer than 20 inches for SATA Power Extension cables. I'm extremely handy with a soldering iron and have no problem cutting an existing extension cable, but was hoping to find an existing extension that was that long already.
Use case -
Only one drive per SATA power cable will be plugged in. Each set of cables will be on their own SATA power. I can't imagine SSD and HDD's taking more that 25 watts a piece, which over 6 feet on the power cord should be fine.
Thanks for reading this any incite would be very helpful as to whether this is a good idea or not. I wan't both cables to be 6 feet as i wan't it away from my work space
