Hello , I just finished my sleeving , got my mobo and gpu cables working ( after some troubleshooting ) , and then I checked on the hdd and sata cables .

But the cable wont give any power to the hdd , none of the two rows of sata will . I double checked the cables , found an error with the allingment of the sata cables ( the yellow wire and the black wire finished in each others destination in the next connector ) and fixed it . But nothing . I also tried powering up another hdd to be sure , but it wouldn't power it either , so it is deifnitely a cable problem . Can you please help me solve this problem because it is driving me up a wall .

thank you in advance ,

do you have a voltmeter or multitester to confirm the wiring is correct?

hmm, can't get link to work, search there for 'sata power'

Ok so will check how to measure this . i have a feeling though that my cables aren't in the right place in the connector . do you know were the ground , power etc. cables go in a sata connector ?

EDIT: I found something . the arangement of the cables counting upwards from the little notch ( positioned in the side of the connector ) is ; Red -> Black->Yellow->Black->Purple . the normal layout that i see on my second pc and pics on the net is ; Yellow->Black->Red->Black->Purple . Does that yellow and red swap make a diference ? I suppose that I shall reconect them the proper way and see how it goes ?

pin 1 is closest to the right-angled end of the connector, and this is how each pin should be:

I have been advized from the very same pinout 😛 as soon as i get to my pc I will try this out . I guess I don't need the voltometer now , since its just a misplacement of the wires .

thank you for the help :)
