Sata power cable uses...

Hi all!

I have a pc built into an old desk and wanted to add a usb hub. Most usb hubs come with 5v ports but it struck me that I have loads of internal Sata power connectors.
I'm aware that it's not logical to use them for the usb hub I was just curious if adapters were available as I can't seem to find any.

My question is, are there any adapters that I can use to convert power from sata power cables?

I'm not looking for splitters or molex adapters, more like 12v power cables.

USB uses 5v, not 12v, you'd burn everything with 12v. There are SATA to Molex adapters, red and black wires in Molex adapter are 5v, Yellow and Black are 12v. With it you can cut Molex off and use appropriate wires to power hub or anything that uses those two voltages. BTW, Red and Yellow wires from Molex give 7.5v. Yellow would be a minus in that case.

Thanks! I think that might be a solution. (Don't worry I wasn't going to use it specifically for usb, that's just what made me think of the redundant sata cables).
