[SOLVED] Sata SSD is very slow

Hi,

So, in addition to this thread, I have installed EVO 870 sata ssd into my pc(described on that thread), I just tested the speed of copying some large files.

The speed was limited to 200 KB, I dont know why. I also cloned the hard disk to the ssd and made sure to boot from that ssd.

any advises?

unplug the hdd

Test it with Samsung Magician. Check health of the drive.

Another thing to check, as I see this was cloned from an HDD and no information about the HDD was given, is to make sure the partition is 4K aligned: https://www.reneelab.com/4k-alignment-introduction.html

It shouldn't cause that much of a performance drop, but just one more thing to check off.

What tool did you use?
At the end of the cloning process, did you disconnect the old HDD and let the system boot from only the new SSD?

How are you testing this 'speed'?
Copying from HDD to SSD? If so, that is not a test of the SSD. Copy function depends on the speed of the slowest device in the chain.

As mentioned above, Samsung Magician or CrystalDiskMark for an actual benchmark.
