Hello,
I have an old pc with only IDE (PATA) controllers.
I want to add a HD and I'm thinking to buy a SATA one since it is cheaper and with more capacity.
Then I need a SATA/PATA adapter.
I've read about several issues with these adapters and the most common is that I can only keep the SATA HD in one IDE channel (no other PATA HD allowed).
Do you know if there is any adapter allowing me to keep my old IDE HD as master and the new SATA HD as slave in the same IDE channel?
Thanks.

seems to work. Note you must set its jumpers to select Master or Slave function on the IDE port, just as if it were an IDE drive, which makes sense.

Users say this one works well, too, and has Master / Slave selection. They do complain a bit about poor instructions.

plugs directly into a mobo IDE port to convert it into two SATA ports. But that does mean it consumes the whole port, so you cannot use it to connect one IDE device plus one SATA device to that IDE port. You would need to connect ALL your IDE devices to another IDE mobo port. You need some clearance over the IDE port for it, and it requires connecting a normal IDE device power supply from the PSU.

Thank you very much Paperdoc. That is exactly what I was looking for.
